Bail for driver in death case

A MAN accused of knocking down and killing an 11-year-old schoolgirl has appeared in court.

 Michael Porter, 40, of Capetown Road, Castletown, Sunderland, pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing death by driving when unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured at Newcastle Crown Court.

 Porter is alleged to have caused the death of Katelyn Pamela Louise Weldon on March 30, 2010 on Washington Road, Sunderland, where Porter is said to have been driving.

 The case was adjourned to July 12, 2013.

 Porter was released on bail.
