Teddies, toys and flowers have been placed outside the home of Sunderland baby Reggie Young, as a close-knit community struggles to come to terms with his horrific death at only three weeks old.
The community has united in grief to pay tribute to the youngster, whose life was cut so tragically short at the weekend.
Still guarded by a police van, the pavement outside has turned into a makeshift shrine for people to express their shock and sadness.
Messages were attached to the more than a dozen cuddly toys left in Falklands Road, Ford Estate, where the baby was bitten by the family dog, in the early hours of Saturday.
A message taped to a Mickey Mouse toy from Holly read: “May the angels keep you shining bright in the night. Hugs and kisses.”
“So sad, thinking of you all,” said one card, signed Claire and Gordon.
Kayleigh, Peter with family wrote: “So sorry for your loss, may the angels keep him safe. Love and hugs.”
Another card read: “Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this tragic time.
“Shine bright like a diamond little one. Beautiful boy, gone too soon. Love always, Karen, Ben and Sarah xxx.”
Jannine and Rachael with families wrote: “To Maria, Ryan, and family.
“Thinking of you all at this sad time,” while another card said: “So sorry for your loss. RIP baby boy. All our love Emma and Keighley.”
“My thoughts are with you all at this sad time. RIP Reggie, you will never be forgotten.” said another card, signed by Zoe, while another read simply: “RIP Reggie”.
