A TEAM of youngsters who use drama to hit home messages about the dangers of drink have won a national award.
County Durham project Just For A Laugh has been chosen as a winner of the UK Champ Awards, which recognise and celebrate those who get across the message about the issues of alcohol misuse.
The scheme is sponsored by drinks company Diageo GB, with the project and two others winners receiving £10,000 each, plus a further £10,000 of consultancy support.
Paul Tuohy, chief executive of Mentor UK, said: “We hear so much about young people and binge drinking.
“It’s time to celebrate the many effective local projects to prevent children misusing alcohol.
“Communities and young people are busy running them all year round. The number and standard of entries this year was higher than ever.”
