DETECTIVES want to speak to this man in relation to an assault after a shed burglary at a city house.

Officers have released the image after a man was injured following the break-in and are hoping members of the public can help to identify him.

The victim, of Mortimer Street, in Pallion, went out to the shed after hearing a disturbance.

A man then assaulted him with a saw which he had taken from the shed, leaving him with facial injuries.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Northumbria Police say they have carried out “extensive enquiries” to trace the attacker.

Detective Inspector Andy Fairlamb said: “I’m hoping we can identify the man in this image and we need the public’s help to do this.”

The incident took place at about 7.30am on Saturday.
