ARTISTS and community groups can bid for three new commissions worth £210,000 to bring events to Sunderland.
The Cultural Spring, a £2m Arts Council-funded initiative working on Wearside and South Tyneside, is looking for artists, groups or arts organisations to lead three season-based projects.
The first commission, worth up to £70,000, is for an Autumn Lights project in association with the National Glass Centre in Sunderland.
The second – Winter Tales – will be run in conjunction with New Writing North. Worth up to £40,000, this story-telling project is based around the tradition of stories being shared on dark winter nights.
The Cultural Spring 2015 project is the largest commission, with a budget of up to £100,000 and will be a large-scale event similar to the Great North Passion, which was beamed live on BBC One from Bents Park in South Shields and featured a number of Sunderland artists including Ross Millard and Jaff Craig from The Futureheads.
Applications open on May 23 and the deadline is June 20. For more information, go to www.theculturalspring.org.uk/commissions/ or email email@example.com
