POLICE are appealing for help over a missing Nissan worker.

Stephen Elliott, 43, who is married with two daughters, was reported missing by his wife after he failed to report for duty at Nissan’s Sunderland plant this morning.

Mr Elliott takes medication for mental health issues and both his family and police are concerned for his wellbeing.

Activity on his cashpoint card suggests Mr Elliott, who lives in Kirkham Close in Chilton, may have withdrawn money from a cash machine in Durham’s North Road sometime before lunch.

It’s thought he has his phone with him but attempts to call him go straight to voicemail.

Inspector Andy Reeves from Durham Constabulary said; “If anyone thinks they may have seen Stephen at any stage today, or has had contact with him I would ask them to call police on 101.

“His family are very concerned and want to know he is ok.”
