Appeal for the airport

NEWCASTLE airport is considering an appeal after losing a £5million court case against a legal firm.

Bosses at the airport, which is majority-owned by the region’s seven local authorities, had hoped a High Court judge would find that Newcastle law firm Eversheds had not done enough to prevent John Parkin, former chief executive, taking a £6million bonus.

But, a judge placed the blame on non-executive directors at the airport.

Lawyers for the airport are now discussing the possibility of launching an official appeal against the decision.
