The family of a missing Sunderland teenager have appealed for him to get in touch.

Seventeen-year-old Scott Gibson, from Castletown, has not been seen since Wednesday evening.

"He was last seen in Millfield around 11.15pm," said mum Natalie Moan.

"He has not been well lately and we are very, very worried. He hasn't done anything like this before.

"If he doesn't want to be found, then that is fine - we just want to know that he is okay."

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "We can confirm Scott Gibson, 17, was reported missing yesterday, Thursday, July 12

"Enquiries are ongoing to trace him and police would encourage Scott to get in touch with officers to let them know he is safe and well."

Scott, or anyone who knows where he is, can contact police on 101, quoting log number 1186 120718.
