A MAN has hit out about the number of supermarket trolleys being left abandoned in his neighbourhood.
Damon Smith, 41, said he has made numerous complaints to Peterlee’s Asda store in recent years about them.
His anger came to a head when someone rammed a trolley used by disabled shoppers into his girlfriend’s Fiat Punto, causing hundreds of pounds-worth of damage.
Damon, a sales business consultant, from Edenhill, called for more robust security measures to stop trolleys being taken off-site.
Asda said it shares his frustrations.
The firm also said it had installed £1 release mechanisms to encourage shoppers to bring them back and has employed a contractor to retrieve ones abandoned in the community.
