Shoppers were given the chance to meet the motley crew at the centre’s indoor beach, which has become a regular summer feature.

As well as the storytelling, shoppers who visited the beach had the opportunity to take part in a pirate-themed workshop, with Captain Hook’s helpers on hand to teach children a selection of crafts including making their own Jolly Roger hat.

Andy Bradley, centre director at the Bridges, said: “Our It’s a Pirates Life For Me day was a fantastic success and we had a great amount of shoppers with their children coming along to the beach to listen to some of the infamous tales from Davy Jones’ Locker.

“The indoor beach is a great way for families to come down to the centre over the summer school holidays and enjoy some fun activities with their little ones.

“We’re holding different events every Thursday on the beach, so I’d encourage all shoppers to come along on to the beach in Central Square to enjoy some summer fun.”

The infamous captain will be making another appearance later in the month.

l Entry to the indoor beach is £1.50 with 50p given to MS Society, the centre’s national charity partner.
