A pair of city youngsters put their best feet forward in a cross country competition.

Year 8 students at Kepier academy, Henry Johnson and Will Bellamy, were both successful when they took part in the Durham Cross Country Championships.

Dave Brennan, marketing manager at the Houghton school, said: “They both did amazingly well, Henry winning the event and Will finishing fifth.

“This means that they have both now qualified for the regional trials in a few weeks’ time, and if successful there will go on to represent the North East in the national finals.

“Both boys put an amazing amount of training into preparing for these events. All the staff here at Kepier are justifiably proud of them both.”
