'Abduction' claim investigated by Seaham police finds no suspicious incident

A report of a child abduction outside a shopping centre has found nothing suspicious took place, police have confirmed.

Durham Constabulary received a call reporting an incident outside Asda in Byron Place, Seaham, where it was claimed a man tried to get a 13-year-old boy into a van.

A spokesman for the force has said inquiries were carried out, but established nothing suspicious took place.

The claim stated the disturbance had happened at 7.30pm on Saturday.
