A TALENTED Wearside youngster is aiming to impress the judges in a national talent competition.

Solo performer Abby Dolan will get the opportunity to perform at Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre on Saturday, March 22, in a bid to make it a step closer to the TeenStar national final.

Abby, from East Herrington, will be looking to go one step further than she did last year after sailing through the auditions stage.

The 10-year-old, who goes to East Herrington Primary Academy, made it to the regional finals at the same venue last year but missed out on a chance to sing at the grand final at London’s O2 Arena.

Abby’s mum Lesley said: “After her audition she just looked at me and gave me the thumbs up. She was over the moon.

“She loves to perform and works really hard at her singing. I am so proud of what she has achieved. I would love her to make it to the O2 as it’s her dream to perform there.”

TeenStar gives young singers from all over the country the chance to win a life-changing record deal.

Judges in the last round said Abby had a “nice, sweet voice”.

Chris Grayston, events co-ordinator for TeenStar added: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, another Birdy or Luke Friend that can go all the way, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist.

“There is so much talent out there, I’m sure we can find that star again.” If she makes it to the final, Abby will get the chance to perform in front of music industry experts.

Previous judges include Atomic Kitten’s Liz McLarnon, Radio 1 Dj Annie Nightingale and Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren.
