DRIVES on the A19 are facing disruption after a car and trailer flipped over onto the central reservation.
Rescue crews were dispatched to the southbound carriageway of the A19 at 11.20am.
A Nissan Terrano pulling a 12-foot double axle trailer. The car hit the central reservation and overturned, with a 52-year-old man from Yorkshire was reported trapped.
A 12 ft double axle lorry being towed by a four-by-four was also involved.
At 11.56 it was reported that the northbound carriageway was fully open and one of the lanes southbound remained closed. At 12.14 the northbound carriageway was affected again because the trailer was being removed.
A spokesman for Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said all persons were accounted for on their arrival.
“No one was injured and fire service were only there for a short space of time,” he said.
Lanes one and two of the A19 south bound carriageway were closed between the A1086 and B1320, and lane two north bound, as a vehicle has broken down ahead of the accident.
A spokesperson for the Highways Agency said tailbacks are as far back as Easington, and traffic is moving slowly.
The recovery is ongoing.
