With horns blaring the 88ft-long gaff schooner De Gallant arrived on Wearside to take up her place on the River Wear for the Tall Ships Races.

Due to follow close behind was a fellow Class B vessel The Dyrafjeld which is one of the world's oldest wooden ships standing 63ft-high and 75ft-long.

They follow three smaller ships which sailed into the Port of Sunderland over the weekend.
