A family have defied the odds by having a grandmother, mother and daughter, all born on the same day.
Connor Turnbull and Joy Spowart, are celebrating their arrival of their newborn daughter Dana Turnbull, who shares the same birthday as both her mother and grandmother, Judie Spowart.
Dana was born at Sunderland Royal Hospital on January 18, weighing a healthy 8lb 2oz.
Her mum was born on the same day in 1996 and her grandmother in 1966. Experts say the odds of such a feat are around 130,000-1.
The couple, of Metcalf Crescent, Murton, were over the moon with their first-born and couldn’t believe the coincidence of the shared birthday.
Proud dad Connor, 20, said: “Dana was born on the same day as her mum and grandmother, Judie Spowart.
“She was meant to be born on January 20 but Joy went into labour a couple of days earlier during the night and was born on her birthday.
“We were all amazed that three generations of her family now share the same birthday.”
The youngster was born on the same day that Paul McCartney sued Sony/ATV for Beatles music rights.
Meanwhile, on the same day back in 1996 when her mum Joy was born, Mariah Carey’s hit One Sweet Day was number one in the charts.
While in 1966, when Judie, now 51, was born, five times Academy winning epic romantic drama Doctor Zhivago was released.
Joy, 20, and Connor met when they both worked at the BT call centre in South Shields two years ago.
But despite the shared birthday being a unique occurrence, Joy’s family also share another special link.
Connor explained: “In Joy’s family everyone is born on the 18th of the month, which is also quite unusual.
“And like me when I was born, Dana was also born with a full head of hair, which doesn’t happen too often!
“The doctors at Sunderland Royal said that it was just something that just happens.
“We are over the moon and she is gorgeous.”
