More than 2,000 properties in Sunderland left without electricity as Northern Powergrid deals with power cut

Northern Powergrid have reported problems in the Silksworth area of Sunderland, with more than 2,000 properties affected.

Northern Powergrid have cited the cause of the power cut to be an unexpected problem with cables or equipment that serve the Silksworth area.

According to the power suppliers website, a total of 2,030 properties across the area have been affected – with reports of electricity going off just before 3.45pm on Monday, February 1.

Northern Powergrid have confirmed that teams are working as quickly as possible to restore power back to people’s homes.

The website says: “Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible

It is understood that power is estimated to be restored back to properties at around 5.30pm.
