Philip Anderson was initially barred from entering three Sunderland streets as part of a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) imposed in April 2019 at Newcastle Crown Court to tackle his drunken behaviour.

He was jailed in January the following year after flouting the order by entering Pilgrim Street, in the Southwick area of the city, and has been locked up again after committing a similar offence earlier this month.

Anderson, 33, pleaded guilty to breaching the CBO by entering the street on March 8 when he appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

He also admitted flouting the terms of a previous suspended sentence by committing a further offence.

Anderson, of Barclay Street, Sunderland, was jailed for nine weeks after the court decided the latest breach was “so serious because the offence was committed during operational period of a suspended sentence”.

He was also ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

Anderson’s 2019 CBO prevented him from entering Pilgrim Street as well as Cramlington Square, in Hylton Castle, and Robertson Square, in Red House.

It also contained a positive behaviour requirement in that he was ordered to attend meetings and complete a comprehensive programme to help tackle his alcohol problems.

Northumbria Police said at the time: “If we do find that Anderson has ignored any of the conditions of this order, we will not hesitate to arrest him and put him back in front of the courts, which will then have greater powers to deal with him.”
