Man arrested on suspicion of drug offences after body discovered in Sunderland street

Northumbria Police were called to a street in the Hendon area of Sunderland after paramedics discovered the body of a man.

Officers were called to Hudson Road in Hendon, Sunderland, at around 9.40am on Saturday, March 27, after a report from the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) that a man had died.

Police said emergency services attended the scene and a 49-year-old man was confirmed dead.

Police have launched an investigation and a 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of supplying a Class A drug.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 9.40am on Saturday (March 27) we received a report from the ambulance service that a man had died at a property on Hudson Road in Sunderland.

"Enquiries into the circumstances around the death are ongoing but a 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of supplying a Class A drug.”
