X FACTOR judges landed in the North East today on the hunt for the region’s talent.
Star judges Nicole Scherzinger, Tulisa Contostavlos, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh landed at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena to hear X Factor hopefuls desperate to make it through to the next round.
The session was the first chance the singers had to impress the judges, having got through the X Factor Newcastle auditions earlier in the year which were in front of show producers.
Take That veteran Barlow said: “I can’t wait to see what talent the UK has to offer and to help inspire and bring out the best in these artists.”
Former Pussycat Doll Scherzinger was announced as the last permanent judge on the X Factor UK after a series of female singers had acted as temporary mentors.
“I’m so excited to join the UK X Factor family. It’s where I got my start, so it feels great to come full circle,” she said.

Huge crowds filed into the Metro Radio Arena to watch the singers perform – and of course, to see Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos and Nicole Scherzinger in the flesh.
Behind the arena, the X Factor flags and lorries surrounded the pink-shirted contestants as the music played and they headed in for their moment of glory.
Inside, a warm-up man got the crowd going in front of a huge X Factor stage with lighting rigs and music, including Boney M’s Daddy Cool, thumping out, which could even be heard outside.
