SUNDERLAND superstar Ben Forster is through to the next round of the ITV talent show – but Peterlee’s Jon Moses has been cast into the wilderness.

The Echo is backing Ben’s bid for stardom and calling on readers to cast their votes in favour of the former Thornhill School pupil.

Now 31-year-old Ben, from Millfield, is through to the final five of Superstar and faces just two more evictions to make it to Wednesday’s final and the chance to secure a starring role on the show’s new tour.

The talented Wearsider was dubbed best of the night by the musical master earlier this week.

Peterlee contender Jon, 28, was one of two wannabes evicted from the search for a lead for a new production of Jesus Christ Superstar last night.

He sang U2’s I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For but was told by Lord Lloyd Webber the performance was more “Jesus of Las Vegas” than Jesus of Nazareth.

But there was consolation for Jon when he was evicted, with the composer saying he had made “an incredible amount of progress” and would have a “fabulous career”.
