PAGEANT princess LeChe Simmons has been putting her beauty queen title to good use.
In her role as Miss Amore, the 19-year-old from Ashbrooke hosted a fund-raiser in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
She managed to raise about £250 at the event, which took place at Amore restaurant, Tavistock Place, in Sunderland city centre.
The Sunderland University student won the Miss Amore title in a qualifying heat for Miss Sunderland.
Kam Chera, owner of Amore, said: “LeChe organised the night and it did really well.
“I wasn’t on the judging panel for Miss Amore, but judges chose her because she has looks and intelligence. She has all-round credentials.
“I think she stands a good chance of winning Miss Sunderland.”
The accounting and finance student is now gearing up to compete in the Miss Sunderland final at Rainton Meadows Arena on June 10.
LeChe, who hails from Bermuda, has been modelling since she was three, appearing in magazines, newspapers, television commercials and has done numerous fashion shows for charity.
She said: “To make it all the way to Miss England would be such a great opportunity.”
