Royal cousin’s risque show

THE Duchess of Cambridge’s cousin will be taking her raunchy burlesque act Stateside as she sets her sights on cracking New York.

Katrina Darling, of Fulwell, will be taking her daring dance act to America, where she hopes to wow audiences with her raunchy moves.

The 21-year-old will be tapping into her royal connections when she performs her racy God Save the Queen show at the iconic WIP club in Manhattan.

Katrina, who is Duchess Kate’s second cousin, said: “New York is a lot more out there than the UK scene.

“London sticks more to the traditional burlesque side of things, whereas New York really pushes the envelope.

“I take my clothes off but I don’t give away anything that should be kept for someone else.”

The former Monkwearmouth School pupil has extended an invitation to her distant cousin and her new family.

“I’d be happy for them to come, but if they don’t, it’s not the end of the world,” she said.

Katrina only discovered her royal links to one of the world’s most talked-about women last year after Kate got engaged to Prince William.

She found herself thrust into the limelight and went on to feature on German TV and Australian radio.

Her grandma, Jane Darling, was sister to Kate’s great-grandfather Thomas Harrison.

She said: “The first I knew about it was when I was up in Glasgow doing a show and there was a voicemail on my phone from a reporter.

“I thought it was an April Fool at first.

“My grandparents on that side died before I was born and we didn’t know we were related to Kate. It’s nice to meet other cousins through this, though.”

In September, Katrina, who works at Barclays bank during the day, starred in the Pecky Bird promo for Sunderland band B>E>A>K.

She has also carried out a string of modelling jobs for magazines and last year performed her burlesque act at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and at shows in Munich and Milan.
