I THINK it’s finally time to wave goodbye to our summer wardrobes and embrace our winter warmers.
We headed to the Bridges this week to see what Wearsiders were wearing, and it seems that leather jackets and knitwear are the must-haves for September.
There are so many different styles of leather jacket available, so whether you want biker chick like Caitlin Moore, from South Shields, or shearling chic like Kate Murphy, from Seaham, there is something for everyone when it comes to leather. As for the knits, you can get ponchos, oversized cardigans or cropped jumpers – the options are endless.
If you go for the oversized cardigan, take some inspiration from Samantha Whiteside. She has teamed hers with tight-fitting leggings and a vest top to make sure her lovely figure doesn’t get lost among the huge amounts of wool.
Although sandals seem to have been made redundant, our shoppers are still yet to bring out the boots – I personally have been pulling on my knee-highs for a few weeks now.
They are still loving brogues though, Anthea Griffiths, from Ryhope and Brydie McAnaney, from South Hylton, have chosen to wear theirs with skinny jeans and chinos. But another must have for Autumn is the heeled loafer, masculine fashion with a feminine twist!
Rebecca Richardson from South Shields, grabbed her pair from a charity shop, so not only is she bang on trend, but she’s looking after the pennies as well.
However you choose to keep warm this season, it’s good to know that you can never wear too many layers, so enjoy snuggling into those jumpers and make sure you invest in good pair of boots to keep out the cold.
