Blue plaques honouring notable people on Wearside

From the first female MP to combating cholera: 13 notable people recognised with blue plaques in Sunderland

Sunderland is home to more than 70 blue plaques, a nationally-recognised marker of historical significance.

However, while most recognise important places and buildings, less than 20 plaques honour people who made their mark on Wearside.
