A TRIO of events will bring Sunderland Minster to life this weekend.

Tonight, Durham Cathedral Choir will raise the Minster’s roof when they perform a Jubilee Evensong, conducted by James Lancelot.

Canon David Kennedy, of Durham Cathedral, and the Reverend Martin Anderson will lead the service, which starts at 7.30pm and is free.

Rev Anderson said: “It is a privilege for Sunderland Minster to welcome the world-famous Cathedral Choir to our city for a feast of Diamond Jubilee music.

“In this 350th year of the Book of Common Prayer, we look forward to celebrating a service of choral evensong led by James Lancelot, the highly acclaimed organist and head of music of Durham Cathedral.

“The service is open to all, at the beginning of a weekend in which the Bishopwearmouth Choral Society and Sunderland Minster Choir will also perform.”

Tomorrow, Bishopwearmouth Choral Society will hold a Jubilee concert at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £12, concessions, available on the door.

On Sunday, Sunderland Minster Choral Society will perform an evensong service at 6pm.
