Five months after closing, the new look Matalan will open its doors tomorrow morning.

The branch at Pallion Retail Park, which has been closed since May, reopens on Thursday, October 27 at 10am.

During the five-month closure, the store has been upgraded, modernised and resized to help improve the whole shopping experience for customers, say Matalan bosses.

The store’s reopening comes in time for Christmas and gives Sunderland shoppers the opportunity to get involved in Matalan’s latest Christmas charity campaign, as its Get Your Stripes pyjamas will be on-sale in store.

100% of the profits from the striped pyjamas, which range in price between £2-£10, go towards Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Charity, which cares for over a quarter of a million patients and families every year.

Sunderland store manager Amanda Kennedy said: “I’m delighted to be able to reopen our doors in time for Christmas. The store team has been working tirelessly to improve the store so that customers get the very best experience when shopping with us.

“I look forward to seeing customers old and new in store and would encourage everybody in Sunderland to come in and get their stripy pyjamas to help us raise much-needed funds for the brilliant Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Charity.”
