Lloyd Cole at the Gala

A MUSICIAN is aiming to cause a commotion when he plays in the North East.

Singer-songwriter Lloyd Cole will be performing at The Gala Theatre, Durham City, on Thursday, June 21.

Cole, now 51, formed the Commotions in 1982 while studying philosophy at the University of Glasgow.

Originally a large soul band, the group trimmed down to a quintet including keyboardist Blair Cowan, guitarist Neil Clark, bassist Lawrence Donegan, and drummer Stephen Irvine. They had a string of hits in the 1980s.

Cole now performs solo.
