TALENTED young artists are being urged to enter a competition inspired by a Wearside beauty spot.

The Tunstall Hills Protection Group (THPG) is encouraging children aged between seven and 16 to take a photo, paint or draw a picture, or compose a short story or poem about Tunstall Hills.

The competition is divided into primary and secondary school age groups, with the overall winner receiving a £50 prize. Runners-up in each category and age group will also be given £10.

Sheila Liddle, chairman of THPG, said: “We encourage young people and their families to take an interest in the area.”

Entries should be sent to the THPG Competition, c/o 21 Loughborough Avenue, Tunstall, Sunderland, SR2 9AS.
