Hundreds of angry patients complain about North East NHS services

THERE were 471 complaints against NHS services in the North East in 2010/11, according to the Health Service Ombudsman.

New data showed that the Ombudsman received 39 complaints about City of Sunderland Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

One was resolved through intervention and two went were investigated by the Ombudsman.

There were 37 complaints about County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, 22 relating to Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust and 13 about County Durham Primary Care Trust.

Primary care trusts and GPs accounted for 18 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively, of all complaints.
