WOMEN are being encouraged to make fitness their New Year resolution.
Exercise classes will be given a twist with sessions including dance and pole fitness at a three-hour festival of fitness fun organised by Durham County Council.
The event, for over 14s, is being held at Freeman’s Quay Leisure Centre in Durham on Saturday, January 14, between 10am and 1pm.
The range of activities will include Zumba, alongside more traditional classes such as running and spinning.
Those who attend the festival will be given access to the gym and the opportunity to get their health checked.
Marie Urwin, sport and physical activity project officer for the council, said: “By organising this festival, we hope that women and girls in the county will be encouraged to try out new and fun fitness activities.
“We hope to show those that take part that exercise can be enjoyable and something that they can do regularly with their friends.”
The session costs £3.50. Places can be booked by calling the venue on 301 8306. Those who take part will be given a £5 health and fitness voucher.
