Glastonbury wants North East’s poetic talent

Have your say

NORTH East poets could play a part in one of the world’s most famous performing art festivals.

One of the attractions at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in Somerset is the Poetry&Words tent and organiser are taking applications for performers.

With competitions on the available slots expected to be strong, the focus is on experienced writers and performers rather than budding new starters.

Last year featured John Hegley, Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze, Dizraeli and The Small Gods, Attila the Stockbroker and Luke Wright, to name a few.

To apply, e-mail with a copy of your artistic C.V. and a link to audio and/or visual recordings of your work.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday, March 6.

*Glastonbury Festival is on June 22-26, 2011.

U2 and Coldplay have been confirmed as two of the headliners on the festival’s famous main Pyramid Stage.
