SANTA will be flying his sleigh to Sunderland for a one-day Christmas extravaganza.
The Magic of Christmas will take place at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, from 11am to 4pm, and will feature more than 100 exhibitors.
The event, the second of its kind organised by the Echo’s parent company Northeast Press, promises to capture the spirit of the festive season.
Northeast Press assistant managing director Linda Burnside hopes this year’s show will be a huge success.
She said: “After the tremendous success of our event last year, we are delighted to be able to host our second Christmas event at the Stadium of Light.
“We have a fantastic array of exhibitors, plus a visit from Santa and we are certain that this year’s event will be just as successful, if not better than last year.”
As well as plenty of gift ideas for all the family, Sunderland AFC’s executive head chef Patrick Lasca will be cooking up a storm showing visitors how to make tasty treats.
Children’s entertainer Tom Rolfe will be putting on a magical show and Sunderland dance troupe Bellydance Moves will be strutting their stuff.
Sara Smith, 44, who runs Bellydance Moves, said: “Belly dancing is a fabulous way to lose some weight, keep fit and make new friends, as well as having lots of fun looking glamorous and learning a new dance.
“We’re really looking forward to being at the show and we’ll also be selling handbags, beautiful jewellery, clothes and bindis.”
If that wasn’t enough, there will be face-painting and crafts for the children and Santa will be there with a present for anyone who visits him.
Debbie Mitchell, group marketing manager for Northeast Press, said: “Now in it’s second year, the Magic of Christmas is fantastic fun for all the family. Regardless of whether you are simply shopping, watching a show or have come along to visit Santa, it’s going to be a great day out.”
There will also be some top-notch prizes to give away, such as a media player from Impact computers, a family meal at Martino’s, a pamper hamper from Naturally Sensitive and a piece of artwork worth £500 from Hawthorn Arts.
Tickets are now available and cost £3 per person if they are booked and children under 14 get in for free. Tickets are also available on the door and will cost £5.
