A fashionista wants to help women dress to impress with her new online boutique.
Brogan’s Closet has received orders from around the North East for its affordable evening wear - now owner Brogan Hindmarsh has her sartorial sights set on national success.
She scours the fashion rails of suppliers to stock her website, which specialises in party wear and swimwear.
Brogan, 21, believes in the business so much, she put her name to it.
“I called it Brogan’s Closet because I only sell things I would wear myself,” she said. “Sometimes clothes arrive from suppliers that I send back if I don’t think are good enough. If I wouldn’t wear them myself I don’t expect anyone else to.
“Business is growing steadily, but I realise the first couple of years are going to be hard.”
Brogan photographs all the clothes for the website herself and say it’s an important way of building trust with her clients.
The former Castleview Enterprise Academy pupil said: “The problem with online clothes businesses is trusting that the picture reflects the product, which is why I photograph all the clothes myself.”
Speaking of how she got into business, Brogan said: “I studied fashion and textiles at college and then fashion journalism at Sunderland University. But once I graduated, I realised it was more the fashion and business side I was interested in than journalism.
“I did some placements at fashion boutiques and realised that was the path I wanted to go in. So I decided to start my own business, it was now or never.”
