DISNEY characters came to life for youngsters at a Sunderland library.

Princess Jasmine and The Sultan from Aladdin popped into the city centre library ahead of their show at Sunderland Empire later this month.

Fiona Clegg, from Centre Stage, which is staging the show, said: “We have been bringing the cast of our shows out to meet the public for the past few years and we always get a phenomenal response.

“This year is no different and Princess Jasmine is proving to be particularly popular.”

The show features all of the characters and songs from the much-loved Disney animated film and Centre Stage is determined to have as much magic present on stage.

Fiona added: “We have a lot of special effects lined up for this show, including an actual flying carpet and a life-sized elephant.

“A story like this is not complete without some magic and we are working very hard to ensure that this is a truly spectacular production.”

l Disney’s Aladdin is at the Sunderland Empire on June 29 and 30 with performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Ticket prices start at £12.50 and are available from the theatre box office on 0844 8713022 or at www.atgtickets.com/sunderland.
