A UNIVERSITY student is gearing up to host a dinner party at a North East castle in for show to be broadcast tomorrow.

Durham University second-year student Donal Anand-Shaw, 19, is starring on Channel 4’s popular, long-running series Come Dine With Me.

In this week’s episodes, he has been competing against amateur chefs, who take it in turn to host dinner parties for their fellow contestants throughout the week.

Tomorrow, the languages student will stage a black-tie dinner in Durham Castle, home of Durham University’s College.

He will present his night to his guests complete with a string quartet.

All episodes are broadcast on Channel 4 at 5.30pm.

Each competitor rates the host’s performance, with the winner receiving a £1,000 cash prize.

In 2009, the show was shot in Sunderland with former Wylam Leisure boss Tony Griffiths, match-day steward Ashley Hughes, PR executive Bernice Saltzer, barrister Anthony Merton-Smith and warehouse manager Roy Ledger battling it out in the kitchen for the top prize.

Mum-of-two Ashley, of Roker Avenue, scooped the top prize with her menu which included salmon and tarragon mousse, pan-fried Alaskan sea bass and fillet steak with a Stilton and chicken crust.
