THEY’RE the newly engaged couple who break down on a country road and end up stumbling into a time-warp.

we’re on the hunt to find Wearside’s answer to geek-chic couple Brad and Janet from The Rocky Horror Show.

To celebrate the musical heading to Sunderland this month, we’ve teamed up with the Sunderland Empire on the hunt for a romantic couple who will be announced as winners on Valentine’s Day.

All you have to do to win is to send us a photo of you and your partner dressed like Brad and Janet. So wannabe Janets need to have blonde hair or be wearing a blonde wig while budding Brads need to be wearing the character’s trademark rimmed glasses.

The couple then need to pose like they’re in love to win a pair of tickets to The Rocky Horror Show on February 18 including programme and interval drinks, a £25 voucher for Frankie and Benny’s restaurant and an overnight stay in a superior sea view room at Sunderland Marriott.

John Cliff from the Sunderland Empire said: “February is the month of love in Sunderland with Valentine’s Day and the return of the Rocky Horror Show at the Sunderland Empire and to celebrate we’re looking for Sunderland’s very own young sweethearts.

“We’re looking for fun, frolics and frivolity. So get snapping.”

Touring as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, The Rocky Horror Show will also see Sunderland-born theatre star Ben Forster play his home town stage for the first time since winning TV show Superstar, ITV’s search for a new lead in musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

The former Thornhill School pupil stars in the production alongside Rhydian from X Factor, former Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett and West End star Oliver Thornton.

The show marks four decades since the raunchy musical first hit theatres with tunes that have gone on to become classics, such as Time-Warp, Science Fiction/Double Feature and Dammit Janet

SINCE its first appearance at the Royal Court Theatre in June 1973, Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show has become the world’s favourite rock ‘n’ roll musical.

It has been performed worldwide for 40 years, in more than 30 countries in every continent and has been translated into more than 20 languages.

It tells the story of Brad and his fiancée Janet, two squeaky clean college kids who meet Dr Frank ’n’ Furter by chance when their car breaks down outside his house while on their way to visit their former college professor.

The show famously combines science-fiction, horror, comedy and music and encourages audience participation with fancy dress.

Stars such as Russell Crowe, Tim Curry, Jerry Springer and Meatloaf, have appeared in The Rocky Horror Show over the past 40 years.
