Actors Julie Hesmondhalgh and David Neilson, or Roy and Hayley Cropper to an adoring Coronation Street audience, were in Sunderland 13 years ago to promote a campaign to encourage more staff training.
Coronation Street’s Terence Maynard was in pantomime in Sunderland in 2015. Many will remember him as Tony Stewart in the soap.
