Some of them were cooking with a celebrity chef at St Anthony’s and others were enjoying a mock wedding at Usworth Colliery.
Some of them were helping Comic Relief in Ryhope and others were talking for a whole day at St Cuthbert’s.

1. Super at St Cuthbert's RC Primary
Children from St Cuthberts RC Primary School talked in class for a whole afternoon with the permission of their teachers. The pupils were encouraged to talk through a project run by BT in 1999. 2. Lottery joy at Valley Road
Sunderland City Council was given £4.9 million from the National Lottery Sports Fund to build the Raich Carter Sports Centre next to Valley Road School in Hendon in 1999.
