The 30th anniversary – of the end of coal mining in County Durham – is approaching this year.
In 1993, the closure of Easington pit marked the final chapter in the Durham coalfield which had been a stronghold of the industry for more than 200 years.
Hundreds of people earned their living there and here are 10 reminders of life in Easington during the coal mining years.
