These are the rules which could be imposed if parts of North East are put into local lockdown

Week-on-week figures show there has been a 700% increase in the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in Sunderland.

And the sharp rise could mean restrictions are put in place if numbers don’t begin to decrease.

In the seven days leading up to Sunday, September 6, the rate of infection stood at 69.1 per 100,000 people, which means 192 people tested positive

Last week neighbouring South Tyneside was added to the Public Health England’s watchlist as an area of concern following a huge spike in the number of coronavirus.

Leaders at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust have now suspend visiting to all adult inpatient wards at its hospitals in South Tyneside and Sunderland due to rising cases of COVID-19.

Areas such as Leicester, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Bolton have all announced local lockdowns in recent weeks.

These are some of the lockdown rules which have been imposed elsewhere:

All hospitality venues have been restricted to takeaway service only.

The strict measures have been brought in in Bolton and have resulted in the closures of pubs and restaurants other than for takeaway service.

All night-time economy and leisure venues should close from 10pm and 5am.

Bolton has also limited the opening hours of all venue which remain open.

You cannot meet people you do not live with inside a private home or garden.

This restriction, which have been imposed in areas such as Greater Manchester, is in place except where you have formed a support bubble or for other limited reasons specified in law

You cannot visit someone else’s home or garden even if they live outside of the affected areas.

The restriction has been brought in in areas such as Blackburn, Pendle and Preston stopping people from visiting friends and relatives outside of their area.

People aged 18 or over can be fined £100 for the first offence, lowered to £50 if paid within 14 days, or £200 for the second offence, then doubling for each further offence up to a maximum of £3,200 for breach of local lockdown regulations.
