Sunderland City Council is preparing to announce more details over the boost to testing across Wearside after it signed up to further checks to be made as part of a Government drive to increase the scheme.

In the meantime, it has advertised for people to apply for site leaders and registration and test assistants to staff the centres.

Those in the role will be paid £14.02 per hour.

They will manage the processing of the swab, which includes preparation, validation, interpretation and recording of results and accurately submit data to the national portal.

The hourly rate is £10.01.

What hours will the centres be open?

The centres are open from 9.30am until 4.30pm, with one night during the week to 7.30pm.

People should be able to work a minimum of three sessions a week and be able to start straight away, although it adds the contracts are of a “temporary nature until this project is complete.”
