How to book a covid test in Sunderland during lockdown

You can book a free coronavirus test through the NHS online or over the phone – here’s how you can book one in Sunderland.

The NHS test and trace service ensures that anyone who develops symptoms of Covid-19 can quickly be tested to find out if they have the virus.

Anyone with symptoms can book a free test though the NHS online and attend a drive-through or walk-in test centre.

Most units are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week with several different locations available.

You should walk or cycle to this site and avoid travelling by public transport or taxi. You can book an appointment via the usual booking process. Alternatively, you can ring 119 to book a test over the phone.

If you test positive for Covid-19 or have close contact with someone who has tested positive you will be contacted by the national Test and Trace programme.

A home test kit can also be delivered straight to your front door – this can be registered online.
