Health heroes: Sunderland's praise for nurse with 'heart of gold' who left inspiring notes for others on NHS frontline

These are just some of the compliments being shared online for Sunderland Royal Hospital nurse Emma Dalton, after she spent her free time writing thank you notes to colleagues working on the NHS frontline.

The 25-year-old was inspired by last week’s first Clap for Carers initiative, which will now take place every Thursday at 8pm, to applaud NHS staff in her own way for their hard work and dedication during the coronavirus pandemic.

And as news of Emma’s kindness became public, the Sunderland community had its own messages of support to share.

Julie Dalton: "Well deserved Emma, your heart is bursting with positivity, you are a lovely kind young lady, inside and out, well done.”

Brooke Allan: “Such a lovely gesture! One of the kindest nurses to help my dad while in hospital!”

Ashley Johnson: “One of the kindest nurses I’ve ever had the pleasure of working alongside.

Vicky Robson: “This is a beautiful thing to do and will give fellow co-workers a boost after long and draining shifts. You are an amazing person for doing this proud of all NHS workers.”
