Haunting images show empty Sunderland streets and seafront usually busy with Easter Monday visitors

The last day of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend would normally see crowds flocking to Sunderland’s seafront and into the town centre.

So as the coronavirus lockdown enters its fourth week, are people still obeying Government advice to stay home and limit the spread of the virus?

It certainly seems as though they are.

Mail photographer Frank Reid visited Roker and Seaburn, as well as Sunderland city centre and captured these eerie shots of the deserted streets.
