Sunderland snapper becomes third generation master photographer in his family

A photographer is keeping it in the family after following in his father’s and grandad’s footsteps to become a Master Photographer.

Joshua Sinclair Lawson, of David Lawson Photography Studios in Chester Road, has just been awarded his Licentiateship of the Master Photographer Association (LMPA) with a panel of 20 Images in the Wedding Category, a speciality of his.

Josh is the third generation in his family to become a Master Photographer following in the footsteps of his dad David and grandad Bob.

He said: “I owe my success to my dad and grandad, who have mentored me. Without their help and encouragement, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am honoured to now be a qualified member of the prestigious MPA and am now working towards my next qualification and plan to enter the regional and national awards.

“My plan is to grow our business, explore new opportunities and continue being the go to photographer in the North East for years to come.”

Josh had to submit an extensive panel of photographic images, which was displayed and judged in front of five respected Fellows of the Industry.

Licentiateship of the MPA, is the hardest qualification and most prestigious to achieve within the photographic profession.

In addition to the panel of photographic images Josh also had to produce an in depth working profile, about his work and business practises.

This document included the Health & Safety elements that must be understood when dealing with the public, and also contained details of the professional insurances that protect the public.
