New radio station launching for Washington

NewTown Radio, started by television and theatre actor Craig Conway, is hoping to highlight Washington, offering a range of music, talk shows and content created by the people of Washington.

The launch comes after the success of another station launched by Craig and his wife Andrea during the coronavorus lockdown, QuaranTyne, where David has used his connections in the entertainment industry to line up special guests, including Sean Pertwee

The radio station will be on the lookout for local talent to create content and will also work in collaboration with existing stations to connect the town.

Craig Conway said: “NewTown Radio wants to connect with the local community, it’s residents, businesses and organisations to give this incredible community a voice across and beyond the town whilst entertaining and promoting and supporting new talent.

The station wants and needs to be the voice of this town it’s residents connecting them to the neighbouring cities and beyond, celebrating and supporting the almost 68,000 residents that make up Washington.”

Craig, who is from South Shields and raised in Washington, is known for appearing in a number of well known TV shows and films, including: Our Friends in The North and Doomsday.
