Popular restaurant closes after staff tests positive for covid

A popular Washington restaurant has had to temporarily close its doors after a member of its staff tested positive for covid-19.

The Forge, which sits on The Avenue in Washington Village, has confirmed that the employee is recovering and that no other member of staff has shown any coronavirus symptoms.

A Facebook message from the venue said: “After speaking with the local health authority and following government guidelines, we think it is best to put the wellbeing of our staff and customers first.

“We will be temporarily closed while we assess the situation, making sure we are following guidance on this over the next few days, we will keep you updated.

“Fortunately, because of the safety measures we have in place, we don’t need to contact any customers as the member of staff didn’t spend any close contact time in the restaurant.”

The restaurant had adapted to lockdown earlier in the year with a popular take away offering and has become well-known in the area for it’s Sunday dinners.
