MetroCentre to reopen non-essential shops - here's the opening hours for stores including Primark, Next, TK Maxx and House of Fraser

Metrocentre will be subject to Tier 3 guidelines so restaurants and cafes will be offering takeaway only, with all food to be consumed off-site.

All leisure will remain closed.

The shopping centre will be open Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm, Saturday 9am to 8pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm, but individual shops will have their own extended hours. Some retailers may have slightly reduced hours so please check in advance before visiting a particular store.

Quieter visitor times will be from 3pm to 9pm Monday to Friday.

Bridges shopping centre in Sunderland has also announced it is extending its opening hours as the second lockdown ends. From Thursday, December 3, stores in the centre will be open until 7pm Monday to Saturday – with late night shopping until 8pm resuming on Thursday evenings.
