Live music will again form a strong part of the celebrations throughout the show, with the first day to be rounded off at 10pm with a fireworks display.

Marquees will be set up throughout the two days, displaying arts and crafts, plants and produce and giving charities and organisations a chance to tell people about their work and fundraise through games.

Sunday’s Dog show entries will begin at noon, followed by classes at 1pm.

A vintage fair and retro stalls will run, with old cars to be on show and rockabilly bands to play.

Sunday will also feature a fun run at 11am, taking joggers around a 2 mile route around the dene, and fairgrounds ride to run during the two days.

Councillor Bill Jeffrey, Labour leader on Peterlee Town Council, said: “It’s always a big weekend for the town, but I think there’s some suggestion of change.

People have a great time, but we want to hear feedback from the people of Peterlee about what they would like to see.”

He added a music festival could be considered.
